The dating app that slows you down.
Talk first. Match later. A dating app that limits your active conversations so your attention actually means something.

Most apps optimize for time on screen. We optimize for time well spent.
Everything moves fast now, and dating has come the same way. Swipe after swipe on filtered photos, built like a game.
People become pictures to judge in half a second, and dating starts to feel more like impressing an algorithm than getting to know someone.
Finding someone you might build a life with deserves better than that. It takes time, and you can't speed it up.
So Ginger is built to slow you down.
How it works
Create your profile.
Give your details, tell us your preferences and write a few lines about yourself. Your photos stay hidden until you both say yes.
Find a vibe.
Ginger finds someone who fits, one person at a time. You read their words and see what they're into. No photo.
Talk first.
A short voice call, to see if the conversation flows. Video stays off unless you both choose to turn it on.
Match privately.
After the call, you each choose. If you both say yes, you see each other's profiles and photos and can start messaging. If not, neither of you is told why.
The limits
Three matches a day. Three conversations at a time. We keep the number small on purpose, because getting to know someone takes attention.
The more you use Ginger, the better it gets at finding people who suit you. It learns what you like as you go.
If someone goes quiet for 72 hours, the chat moves to your archive so nobody is left waiting. It's still there if you want it.
Notes
Once a day, you can post a Note, which is one photo and a short caption. People you’ve matched with see it on their Home feed for 24 hours. Before a call, they can also look through your recent Notes. That gives you something to talk about even after you match.
Safety
Before anyone talks, we confirm your email and phone number and compare a selfie with your profile photo. Your phone number never shows on your profile.
Text messages are end-to-end encrypted, so only the two of you can read them. Photos and videos sent in chat are checked for nudity, and video calls are filtered for nudity and flashing. Video during calls stays off unless you both turn it on. Links can’t be sent in chat, and calls and chats are protected against screenshots, screen recording and voice recording.
If something goes wrong, you can report, unmatch or block from the conversation. The person you report won't know it was you.
Fewer conversations. Better connections.
